Birding by Ear 2026

May 23 @ 8:00 am10:00 am

The blackflies are back so you know what that means? The birds are back too!

Save Our Old Forests is excited to get back out into the woods for an early morning Birding By Ear workshop with guest hosts Julie Palmer and Bonnie McOrmond.  The last time Julie and Bonnie took a group through the forests of the Goldsmith Lake Wilderness Area participants were delighted to hear the “Quick Free Beer!” all of the Species-At-Risk Olive-sided flycatcher.  What might we hear this time?  The only way to find out is to register for the workshop.

Limited to 12 participants.
Registration:
will open in April
What to bring/wear: Layered clothing, waterproof boots/shoes, water, snacks, bug dope/bug shirt, binoculars, and a smartphone with the Merlin App

Informed Consent & Release Of Liability:  Our workshops are a wonderful way to connect to nature, learn more about our forests and interact with the community, but it is not without certain risks, dangers, hazards, and liabilities to participants.  We require all participants (or their legal guardians) to complete, sign and date the waiver before they can participate in the workshop. Click here to download the waiver and please ensure that you bring it with you to the workshop.  Extra copies will be available at check-in if you forget!
